Rockwell 857 Motor Protection Relay

The Rockwell Allen-Bradley® Bulletin 857 motor and feeder protection relay contains the essential protection functions needed for protection of feeders, and motors in medium/high voltage distribution networks. Protection relays should be an integral part of your motor protection solution because 75% of motor failures can be prevented by appropriate protection measures.

To protect transformers for distribution networks, utilities, industry, power plants and offshore applications, consider a Rockwell differential protection relay. It includes many programmable functions for various protection and communication capabilities. The relay is designed for single phase, two or three-phase overcurrent and sensitive earth fault protection applications. It adapts to various substation and alarm systems with flexible signal grouping matrix included in the relay.

Flexible control maximizes motor output with current, voltage, and motor protection functions. Application of protective relays ensures continued operation of motors, feeders and transformers.

Bulletin 857 Conversion Kit

The Rockwell bulletin 857 relay conversion instructions explain how to seamlessly convert existing GE Multilin (i.e. 269, 469) motor relays using pre-existing space with no added wiring. Conversion kit installation instructions and mounting adapters simplify replacement. The replacement Bulletin 857 relay must be purchased separately.

SetPointPS Software

SetPointPS is the configuration software for Bulletin 857 and 865 relays. The SetPointPS tool reads directly from the device and may be used for recording relay disturbance. A built-in evaluator uses standard COMTRADE files for saving records. SetPointPS works with all Microsoft® Windows® operating systems back to and including Windows 95.

Rockwell 857 Features

Configuring interlocking schemes support basic logic functions, and events and fault values can be recorded to an event register for reading data. The intelligent relay features control and blocking use digital signal control inputs and outputs, with the ability to control six objects such as breakers and disconnects, or status of eight objects. The front display is configurable and has six selectable values and active mimic style graphics for visual observation of process controls.

Wide setting ranges can reach 0.5% sensitivity for protection. All indications, settings and events are in non-volatile memory. This motor protection relay is compatible with EtherNet, ControlNet and other common industrial networks. A 12-channel disturbance recorder monitors analogue and digital signals.

The Rockwell Allen-Bradley® line of motor protection devices encompasses a range of simple, single purpose protection to the newer overload technologies featuring diagnostics and Logix integration.
