PowerNet to Foreseer Migration Solution
The purpose of this guide is to provide guidance for technicians and engineers that are responsible for evaluating and monitoring their electrical infrastructure.
Instructions and examples will be based on both Eaton’s legacy electrical power monitoring system (PowerNet) and Eaton’s new architecture (Foreseer). This guide will navigate, configure, and explore the functionality of these systems, including the migration path for hardware.
Foreseer was developed as a fast and cost effective solution to provide a migration path for users that are forced to upgrade older PCs or servers that are discontinued/EOL, no longer supported, or that do not meet today’s cyber security requirements.
As we take a deeper dive into the process of migration users will have a sense of the overall requirements and what it may take to commit to this migration path. Depending on the size and scope of the electrical infrastructure, the project’s completion timeline could be as little as a week or performed in phases in the case of larger systems. These phases may extend across multiple years.
Ultimately, it’s imperative for the user to make a decision: either risk losing all data and control functionalities from a critical component failure, or choose to begin this migration process!
